What is this used for, ReadyBoost? I rebuilt my laptop last night and this drive was not being used / configured after the rebuild. I was wondering how it was configured by default.

That must be the turbo memory ... Are you running Vista? Do you have the turbo memory driver installed?

It is infact the part of Turbo memory.

I have 1GB of "Turbo Memory" so why does this say 512?

How is yours configured? Is it an accessible drive?

Edit: I just looked at the Turbo Memory configuration. It seems part of it is for ReadyBoost and part is for ReadyDrive.

I have the same question. I purchased a T61 with the 1GB turbo memory but it only shows up as 512mb. Does anyone know why?

The readyboost portion is likely the 512MB drive you are seeing.
