I have two T60ps that are the same model (2623DDU). One was purchased last year around this time and the other about two months ago. I have a set of Rescue and Recovery CDs for the older one purchased at the time I bought it. Can anybody tell me if I ordered another set now if they would have updated drivers, Windows patches, etc. or would it be an identical set?
thanks,

One set is made for each manufactured model of Thinkpad.

Hey Harry,
Thanks for the reply. So, would that mean the unit that was sold in say Feb 2007 still has the same build, drivers, etc. as the unit sold in May of the previous year? I would have thought they would be updating some of the software as they went along. BTW, I sure hope you get some kind of satisfaction in the deal with Orevin.
thanks,

That is not the case.

That is, indeed, the case.
I bought my T60p in April 2006 and last month I needed to recover to "factory settings". Since the Recovery Partition was not accessible, IBM sent me a new set of Recovery CDs. According to the CD labels they were valid for most (if not all) types of T60/T60p and they were dated 18 January 2007. So, after the recovery I had almost the latest ThinkVantage software and drivers. It really felt like a new machine!

Anthony,
Thanks for the feedback! What you experienced made more sense to me than what Harryc said. It seems like Lenovo would be updating the drivers, etc. even though the machine may be the same. Since some models apparently sell for up to a year it would seem they would have to be updating drivers and patches or they would be shipping machines that would go out unprotected or with bugs.
If anybody else can weigh in on this and confirm I would sure appreciate it.
thanks again,
