T61 very slow

#1 Post by montz » Mon Jun 18, 2007 10:39 pm

I removed the active protection. Removed the Iostor thingy. Ran the supplied diagnotics at boot. But my system is so slow. It takes 5 min to boot to a state that I can work on. Applications will work for a bit then freeze. the mouse will move but i cant get into task manager or start menu. Tech support made me run diagnostics but it passed all the tests. I am forced to power off the system by holding teh power button. On reboot it does chkdsk. I had a few occasions where it would say c:\windows\system\ missiing (or something like that). I was forced to do a recovery. Anyone else haveing these sisues?

You delete the wrong parameter under regedit: iastorv, not iastor.
If after you delete the parameter you still experience freezes, uninstall Intel Matrix Storage Driver and Intel Turbo Memory.
Now: X60s, T61, X61 Tablet
Past: R40, X41 tablet, T60

FS: $819 shipped T61 7664-16U

FS: $49 shipped Atheros a/b/g/n

Might be an MS issue. Read KB927891

Are you sure you haven't been infected with a virus? Are you running a reputable antivirus program that is updated frequently? Try running a virus scan in Windows SAFE MODE.
