No T61 with a graphics card and 15.4 in screen?

#1 Post by t41user » Tue Jun 19, 2007 12:34 am

What's up with the configurations for the T61 (at least on the USA Lenovo site)?

It seems that in order to get a (half decent, dedicated, independent/non-Intel) graphics card (in Lenovo's choice, the nVidia Quadro NVS), you have to get a model with a 14.1 inch screen. It seems that in order to get a 15.4 inch screen, you have to get a model with an Intel GMA3100 GM965 (and maybe also with a WAN card). Is that right? If so, is there any good reason for constraining user choices of configurations in this manner? What's going on?

My apologies if people have already discussed this issue. If so, please provide relevant links to discussion threads. Thanks.

Sounds like you've got it right. Except you don't have to get the WAN card.

Yep, if your [censored] about it join the crowd. No sense in calling customer service to ask when the nVidia card will be offered for the T61 15.4" either. You'll get a different answer every time. The date they give you will be anywhere from "A few more days" to "mid-July".

Good Luck!

Calm down! The 15.4" widescreen with Nvidia will be released when its finished. Do you prefer buggy hardware that is shoved out of the door too soon?

I prefer they at least give an accurate release date.

I called about two weeks ago and they said it would be out "in a couple days." That didn't happen. I've read numerous other threads in various forums that people have been given a dozen different dates as to when the t61p or T61 15.4" with nVidia card would be released.
Obviously the customer service reps don't know and they should just say so. But they should be more knowledgeable or informed than that. If the the product isn't ready to be released because it is "buggy" then they should just say so but they don't; they give false expectations.

I'm with Volker. I want a T61p with the WUXGA screen, the better nVIDIA Quadro GPU and preferably with 800MHz RAM and with a 200 GB 7200 rpm Travelstar drive.

But, first, I want the computer to be stable and reliable. Lenovo just bought back my Z61p with WUXGA screen because the machine kept locking up from ESB. I got treated very well, but it took a lot of my time to work through the problem.

I want Lenovo to produce a top notch, reliable machine.

X230T with Win8Pro x64, i7, 500gb ssd; W700 WUXGA RAID 1 Blu-Ray W7Pro x64, occasionally a T61p with Win7Pro x64

Your missing the point. I'm with Volker too. BUT, CSR shouldn't tell you it's going to be released "in a couple days" if that is not the case!
