I requested for Rescue and Recovery Disk for Windows Vista Business and I got it the next day. Sadly when I completed the re-installation Vista Home Premium was installed. I called Lenovo support and they told me that they had sent me the wrong disks. I got another set of Recovery disks and now before doing the re-installation I want to make sure if its the right Vista business which I had ordered with my machine. How can I make sure the Recovery disk I have now is that of Vista Business as I do not want to redo it again.
I guess the DVD P/N number will have reference to it.
These are the FRUs.
Disk 1 - P/N : 43E1238
Disk 2 - P/N : 42Y9777
Disk 3 - P/N : 43T7429

It is disk 2 that determines which OS you have.

Is there anything else on that disk? For example, if it says "VHP X32" that is Vista Home Premium 32-bit. If it says VB then it's Vista Business. But I think P/N : 42Y9777 is Vista Home Premium.

Did you compare part numbers with the first set of disks you got?

Thanks for your immediate reponse. Yes it says VHP X32 on the second disk and first set which they sent me too have VHP X32 on the second disk.

I checked the FRUs and both the sets which they send me looks same.
So they have sent me the wrong one again.
I will be requesting for it again.

Bummer... Another example of Lenovo needing to get there act together!

Good Luck!

Ohhh... one more thing. Did it come with a product key? It is my understanding that it is the product key that determines the OS. Maybe they could give you a Vista Business product key over the phone. I guess you would have to re-install and type in the Vista Business product key during installation. It might work. Just a thought???

R&R disks don't ask for and come with product key.
