Battery seems to be losing its ability to hold a full charge

#1 Post by thatcrazycommie » Wed Jun 20, 2007 11:11 am

I got my T60p two days ago, and by the end of the first day, the battery's maximum had gone from 100% to 99%, and now it's full at 98%. Should I be worried? I think if it goes to 97% I'm calling Lenovo.

It's a 9-Cell, by the way. If that matters.

It's programmed to work that way. The power management won't charge the battery until it's 95% or lower. Unplug the laptop, run it off the battery until it reads 95% or lower, then plug it back in. it'll charge back up to 100%. Just a way to prolong the life of the battery.

you should probably read a few of the battery theads we have on here on how to maintain them. The batteries loose capacity over time but that seems a lil fast unless you're talking about that it stops charging at 98% which the above explanation would be right. If you're talking about the maintainance portion which tells you the capacity and that's going down constantly then yeah, that might just be because of how you're charging the battery.
