1. I lost my password and didnt do a finger print. So
I used the product recovery disc, but when i boot up nothing happen and it just goes to the login...I tried to go to the bios, then boot and put the disc driver as the number 1 default option that still didnt do anything. IT seem like the computer is ignoring the cd drive. Maybe the disc is burnt, but i check it out on another computer and it has all the files.

2. Can I just use any reboot disc such as window xp pro or do i have to use the reboot disc from the T60.

Was the disc drive working before? Is the disc drive firmly seated in place? Will the disc boot on another computer?

yeh it was working before and yes the disc is in place. And i dont think the disc will boot up on another computer because its made for the T60.

CAN i boot it up with a normal window xp pro disc?

CAN i boot it up with a normal window xp pro disc?
Well, yes, you can boot with a "normal" CD provided you can get the machine to boot from a CD (which is what I think you've complained about).

But, you didn't explain WHICH password you "lost" or "forgot". If it was the boot password (for the hard disk, set in the BIOS) then you've hosed the machine and will have to call Lenovo. If you were smart enough to follow the steps in the ThinkVantage "Client Security Solution" application for setting a password recovery set of questions (but I expect you don't know what I'm talking about) you can use that program to recover.
If it was the user-level (Windows, not boot or hard disk level) password then you should be able to boot from a CD to reinstall Windows. But, your CD/DVD drive might be bad. The only way to know for sure is to test it. Steps follow below....

To try booting from a CD, follow these steps:

Open the BIOS and change the startup sequence so that the CD/DVD is the first device. Remember to save that configuration change on exiting.

Then, power down.

Then, power up with the CD (with the Recovery CD or the "normal" XP disc) in the drive.

If the machine goes to the hard drive anyway, I'd call Lenovo and ask for a repair ticket. If you can't boot from any CD when you'd set the BIOS to boot from the CD then the CD drive is bad.

Oh, and if you can boot into Windows on your hard drive you might want to try to run the "PC Doctor for Windows" application which shipped with your machine. Have it run the diagnostics on the CD/DVD drive. Then call Lenovo when it fails. (They'll walk you through that step anyway when you call so you might as well have tried it first.)

Hope this helps. Questions? Write to me....

Have you tried one of the many NT/XP password recovery and reset tools, like this? http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/
