T60P Won't Turn On

My T60P won't turn on. I've tried multiple times and I never get anywhere. The battery power light and the A/C adaptor light turn on, as well as the circle with the Z in it that is next to them (anyone know what that does?)... Briefly after I try to turn it on, I feel the hard drive start up and the HD light and a few others turn on and then turn off - leaving only the battery, AC, and circle Z lights on... The screen never turns on at all.

Any suggestions? It is an 87440-2JU T60p and has not had any problems prior to yesterday.

Thanks,
Matt

Undock the system, unplug power, and remove the battery. Disconnect all peripherals (mouse, etc).

Hold down the power button for about 30 seconds. Then, press the power button about a dozen times. This is supposed to bleed off any residual power.

Then, plug your system back into wall power (nothing else) and see if it boots.

I just came home and thought I would give it another shot - booted up successfully on the first time. My girlfriend had arranged depot warranty service while I was at work, Lenovo is shipping a box for me to send my laptop in. Would you recommend still sending it in for service? I'm leaning towards still sending it in....

Thanks!

It simply indicates power on. See here http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... GR-62718#7

Ah, thanks!

I was using my laptop again last evening, it started functioning again - but froze sometimes and I got a few BSODs at times. Other times, it took at least 20 tries before powering on. I got some work done at least, but I am definitely sending this back to Lenovo to diagnose.

Thanks for the help!

Heya, any updates on what happened after sending it back to Lenovo?

I have a somewhat similar problem of my T60 not starting up but so far I've noticed it happens when it's restarted after new updates are installed.

Plus, I'm not very sure on this yet, but it seems to have started after I tweaked my battery charge settings on Power Manager. If I'm on AC power and I unplug it to run on battery only it starts up fine...

Anyway, I'm still searching posts here to see if I can find out more about this problem I'm having.

Hey-

I actually sent mine into Lenovo and they inspected it and returned it... On the repair receipt it lists "planar card", then on the next line it describes how they flashed the latest BIOS. I am not sure if they replaced the planar card or not, it did not mention. I had already flashed the latest BIOS update, so I am not sure what Lenovo did, it really wasn't clear on the service receipt. I haven't encountered any problems since receiving it back, but I haven't used it enough to tell for sure if the problem is solved.
