I ordered a T61 with 1gb RAM (1 stick) and base harddrive

Any suggestions on type and place to buy 1 more stick of 1gb ram and a 7200 RPM drive.

I was looking at the 7K100 drives

There has been many good deals on the Ram.
For the hd, I suggest you get a 7k200 if the budget allow, it will be much faster then 7k100.

for hard drive, I would buy a 120GB 7200.2 Seagate Momentus. it is perpendicular, fast, quiet, cool, and the best upgrade I have EVER done on any thinkpad. the $112 price is decent.

for RAM, newegg is a good bet.

zipzoomfly has them.
buy/cdw has them listed in their catalog but they show them not in stock at the moment.

mwave has the 200gb 7K200 for $250.

I'm debating whether I should return my 7200.2 and 'upgrade' to the 7K200, or whether it's worth the expense and effort. no doubt it will be faster, but how much is unanswered until we see some reviews.

for RAM, is G.Skill decent or should I go with OCZ?

I have installed a 1gb crucial memory stick.
Now I have 2 1gig sticks in my new T61

This was worth the $$, I can see a big improvement and less harddrive activity.

I am not sure if I still need the HD upgrade, maybe when the prices drop...
