Fire GL driver version.`

#1 Post by jgrobertson » Sun Jun 24, 2007 10:31 am

Lenovo is posting only 8.343 version driver for the Fire GL V5200 in the T60P.

Now I have 8.362 installed, it came from the ATI/AMD website I guess. Does anyone know if there is any reason to not use the driver direct from ATI rather than the one distributed by Lenovo?

Are you still able to access the CCC , using the 8.362?
I was using this version, and got the CCC working but after about one week, I was unable to use CCC+8.362 combo, so I down graded to 8.293. and the CCC worked again.

I did not have any trouble whilst using the 8.362 version.

thanks

Yes I can access CCC. There are issues that may be because of this driver however.
  • When I dock it with an expternal display it always comes up on the right, I want it on the left. The profile does not take.
When used with Lenovo presentation manager, a lot of display flashing goes on between profiles and it scrambles my desktop icons.
I have problems with not coming out of sleep after undocking with the external display. I don't know if that is part of the video stuff or not.
I had a mysterious shutdown and reboot where windows came up with a message about serious failure and reboot.

is there anything wrong with using the 8.293, I would just revert back to the older version of the driver.

I don't use docking station and external display so I can't give you help on those. sorry and good luck
