I'm new to the Lenovo way of doing things. The Blue button you hit at startup takes you to rescue and recovery on the hidden partition.
I know this because I have redone my Vista OS from it.
I installed XP to the C partition, leaving the 5 gig service partition alone, but now when you hit the blue button at startup it no longer takes you to Rescure and Recovery, only to an option to pick the boot device.
I checked and the service partition is there, how do you restablish connection to it from the ThinkVantage button at boot?
I did make the 6 rescue dics already, but redoing the OS back to Vista would be so much easier from the service partition.
Thanks

To get access to the rescue partition you need a modified boot sector. You can get the R&R recovery repair diskette from this site: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-54483.
Another option would be just to install r&r on your current os since it restores the blue thinkvantage button functionality at boot.

Thanks for the reply. To go ahead and install the XP version of R&R to my XP system, I would download and install the 453mb R&R 4.0 for Windows XP from Lenovo to get it to work again?arni wrote:To get access to the rescue partition you need a modified boot sector. I assume that you want the r&r functionality back also in xp. So your choice is right.
But you don't have to download the multilanguage version of r&r. The single language versions are smaler. Just take a look over here http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-4Q2QAK.

Thanks arni for the help. I have been trying to get the software installed, but it keeps rolling back saying it was interupted. I have tried stopping all virus/malware scanners and all non-essential window services and process, but it just wont install.
It won't install in safe mode as the neccessary services are not running. Not quite sure what to try next.
