unneeded software on T61

#1 Post by allenkt » Fri Jun 29, 2007 7:33 am

What programs on a new T61 are unnecessary? I've removed the Norton Internet Security, the program by PC-Doctor (don't remember the name) Acrobat reader (bloatware, in my opinion, and replaced it with CutePDF and Foxit), and the MS Office 2007 trial (since I own Office 2003).

Anything else on there that I don't need? I don't mind any programs they include for free but I don't want any of the trial programs like Norton. What about the diskeeper (I think that's what it's called). Is that worth keeping? Looked like it could be handy.

I'm with you on this one. I just recieved my T61 and its the same (they are all the same I know) but 30g of my 60g harddrive is full and i just opend the box! I uninstalled those items as well and any other trial ware i ran across. I'm not too impressed with the Thinkvantage programs, they get int he way and take a tone of RAM. I'm thinking of getting ride of it (thinkvantage) but don't know if it will really screw up the install, or ability to adjust settings to hardware.
