help! T61 "error loading operating system"

The boot order is correct in the BIOS.

I did not install anything, except lenovo and Windows update and never touched anything in the recovery partition, never changed anything in the BIOS.

It only does this when I start from cold boot next day in the morning. Otherwise Windows boots on restart and immediate shutdown with no error. This will summarize my problem:
I power on the NB, and it says "error loading operating system". Only key that works is power, so I power it off. Then I power it back on again and it works fine - loads up the OS as usual.

When I shut down after I finish using it, it shuts down like normal. But the next day when I turn it on, the cycle repeats.

Im using a Lenovo T61 with Vista Ultimate. Its been fine for the first week, just started to do this. I'm thinking maybe a windows update did something funky... ?
People please help. :? :( I am having headache with this system. :cry:
