T61 some buttons are not recognized after XP clean install

#1 Post by kraf » Sun Jul 01, 2007 10:54 pm

My T61 had vista basic, which is too slow. So, I did clean install of windows XP pro. Things went smoothly but still Thinkvantage button is not recognized and I get no feedback of volume buttons (you know, green bar that indicates the current volume and mute sign if a mute button is pressed).

Does anybody know how to fix it? I installed a keyboard customizer utility and some others (don't remember..) but it didn't work as I want it to...

Also, when a computer is shut down, often "cmmon32.exe" has to be closed forcefully (a window with 'cmmon32.exe' pops up). Does anyone know why that window come up?

Download System Update and it'll download everything you need.

Basically you need the ACPI Power Management driver and the Hotkey utility driver. Make sure you have the Intel Chipset drivers installed as well.

Thinkvantage brings Productivity Center where in past Thinkpad it was launching Acces IBM.

You can download Productivity Center here :

I found Productivity Center useless so I don't install it... Does some one know a tweak to assign an other action to the Thinkvantage blue key ?
