"Power on Wireless Radio" text is gone from ThinkV

When i click the ThinkVantage button, there's is a line of text missing. It's the line of text right above the "Power On Bluetooth Radio." It should read "Power On Wireless Radio."
It just happened today. When i started up my notebook this afternoon, my wireless wasnt working. I did a diagnosis and it said my wireless wasnt powered on, so i clicked "power on" and it did nothing. So i ran another diagnosis through windows, which eventually fixed my wireless connection and it's working now. But, the line of text in thinkvantage is GONE! Any ideas on how to remedy this problem?
Edit:It just happened to me again after i rebooted my notebook. I had to do another windows diagnosis, which stated i was not connected to windows wireless service.
Does anyone know where Windows Wireless Service is located? The line of text is still missing from ThinkVantage.

Yeah i tried that too earlier today and it didnt work.
I figured out the problem though. WLAN AutoConfig was set to manual in the services by accident. I was playing around with the services the night before, and after, decided to set everything back to default. I used the black viper guide to set back my Vista Premium to their "default" settings, but Lenovo, i guess, had set WLAN AutoConfig to automatic from the factory.
____________
I asked this at another board as well- if anyone would be so kind as to post a couple of screenshots of the T61's factory set services, i would greatly appreciate it, as it would allow me to double check the factory settings without having to do another partition install.
Thanks in advance.

How do i set WLAN AutoConfig to automatic? I too have lost my wirelessradio on/off in thinkvantage. It was present when i was running vista, now it is running xp and is missing. I customised thinkvantage tray, it is just blank. I installed ThinkVantage access connections hoping that was it, no, and i am likely to uninstall it.
also i am noticing that when i use Fn+F5 i only see the Blue Tooth radio but nothing else.
the radio is on unless i swith the physical switch to the left.

Type in services.msc into the seach box. Then scroll all the way down. You should see the service titled "WLAN AutoConfig." Right click that and choose Automatic.
don't got one

My services.msc doesn't have "WLAN AutoConfig." Maybe that is my problem. (i am running xp, though ibm support claimed i had all the drivers and patches and downloads based on no red Xs in device manager, he was eager to get rid of me, since then i found lots of drivers and patches i needed) I do have a "wirless zero configuration" but that isn't it.
What do i download to fix this problem?
Thanks for the help.

The only thing i can think of is trying to uninstall and reinstall your Lenovo System Interface, Hotkeys, and wireless driver again with a boot after each uninstall and install. At the same time, if you're not using Access Connections, you might as well uninstall that one first before you go through with all the other uninstall/installs. That's a good way to tell if the XP wireless utility is working properly to begin with.
If worst comes to worst, you'll probably have to try reinstalling the OS.
The reason i was having problems with the missing Wireless Radio On button was because i had played around with the services.msc settings. If you didnt do the same, our situations are probably different. Good luck.

Yeah, tech support had me unintall and reinstall hotkey and powermanagment over and over, finaly told me to repair or reinstall windows. I atleast had wireless radio before i called them. now it is totaly off.
Note: they also had me open the bios (F1 on restart) and change avertything to defalt setting. this lead to a downward spiral of unsafe shutdow, windows blue screen and i couldn't open windows in normal or safe mode. This was becasue the compatibility got switched to sata when retoring defaults. by changing it back to compatibility i was able to get back to the OS. just for future reference if folks hit a similar problem.

I uninstalled thinkvantage access connections. I then had the WLAN Radio showing when i punched Fn + F5

. That was a good sign. I noticed it was grey and "disabled" so i rebooted and used the F1 on startup, selected network, changed WLAN radio frequency to on from off (something the IBM tech guys turned off this morning) and now i have wireless again

. Unfortunately it isn't in my Fn+F5 display despite having it there just a minute ago

.
Is there a thinkvantage emotion sensor that senses when you are feeling happy/relived that then restores the OS setting you held during frustration/anger.
I was ready to commit to reinstalling windows as you advise but that is a all day job and since i SAW the wireless radio just now something must be missing.
I am getting the warning sign i had posted about on the "installing xp on t61" thread:
-When i push Fn+F5 i get a windows warning box titled Change Power Setting of Wireless Radio that read unable to change power state of 802.11 wireless radio. Update the driver of the wireless adapter. then a "do not show this message again" check box. what is this about, and what is the update i need as windows and thinkvantage updates find nothing and the hokey, powermanagment, WLAN drivers have all been installed repeatedly.
If need be i will reinstall/repair windows xp pro. but it will have to wait as i had 3 days worth of homework and i spent 2.5 days of my labor day weekend trying to get this thing to work.

All these drivers MUST be installed in the correct order. Whenever upgrading your wireless driver software, ALWAYS uninstall Access Connections first and reboot. See following post by
antera309 to try and get everything working again.
