T61 PCI Memory Controller

#1 Post by mullstu » Tue Jul 03, 2007 10:01 am

I received a T61 with Vista and decieded to go back to XP. XP is working, but I can't find the PCI Memory Controller driver anywhere.

Does anyone know where I can find it?

Also, I am not able to change the SATA controller to AHCI mode, it will only boot using Compatibility mode. Any ideas on that one.

Thanks

If by PCI Memory Controller, you mean, the Intel Matrix Storage driver? You will need to install this driver before reverting back to AHCI mode.

See my post here.

I already installed the Intel Matrix sotrage driver. I have no idea what the PCI Memory Controller is.

There are 2 issues at hand. 1 being the Memory Controller and the other being the AHCI/Compatibility mode issue. I should have been more specific.

That is the Intel Turbo Memory.
It is not usable in XP.

SO what do I do for the uninstalled device. Just leave it unconfigured. That doesn't make any sense since IBM ships the T61 with and without XP. There has to be a driver for it.

there is no xp driver for the intel turbo memory. If you had configured your notebook on the lenvo website with xp they wouldn't allow you to check the option for intel turbo memory. I don't think it's that big a deal if you just leave it alone. It's actually a good idea so that when vista is out of beta testing you can reinstall and have the turbo memory there for use.

You don't even want it installed anyways. It has been the cause of many lockups and BSOD in vista. I've disabled mine and I'm hoping it cures all the freezes I've been having while on battery power.
