T61 with missing a front panel cover. Is it normal?

#1 Post by kraf » Tue Jul 03, 2007 1:14 pm

My T61 (model# 6465CTO) seems to miss a front cover (about 1~1.5 inch long. I can't upload a picture but it is right next to the touchpad's right button. I do not have a fingerprint reader and it seems like it is for a fingerprint reader). I called the lenovo service center and they said it is normal and T61 does not have the cover while 3000 series have the cover.

Is it true? it is so strange and weird if it is true... Anybody has the same issue? Also, my AC adapter (65W) does not connect with its brick fully and they are very unstably connected. Is it also normal?

That is strange... I'm willing to guess that its not supposed to be that way. Sounds like they installed the wrong plate.

That is not certainly for fingerprint reader. It would be more appropriate if you upload a picture and show us what you're referring to as most of us don't own a T61.
Also, my AC adapter (65W) does not connect with its brick fully...
It should unless you're forcing it, nevertheless you can contact lenovo and ask for replacement if you're unhappy.

Are the Lenovo 3000 and T61 that similar that minute comparisons can be made? Is Atlanta being trained on Lenovos?

Take a look at the photos on these sites showing what a normal 15.4" T61 should look like:

Site 2

If your unit doesn't look like them, then something is wrong.
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP

The above-mentioned photos are from a T61 14" widescreen. My 15.4" widescreen looks different, especially the sound plugs are on the left and not on the front.

On the front, just right of the touchpad right mouse button, there is the SD card slot. Its clearly not a missing piece of the front cover, though. It has a tiny little eject button next to it.

Are you saying the part you thought was missing turned out to be the 4-in-1 media card reader?

I apologize for being so sloppy! Somehow I had assumed they were reviews for the 15.4" T61.

I'm not the OP and I can't read his mind . But the card slot is just about where the OP described.
