Hello !
I have just bought this one : T60P Serial 8744J2F
This laptop comes with a : ATI Mobility FireGL V5250 256 MB GDDR3
So, because I use a ATI 9600 PRO Ultra on my desktop, I want to know if I can use the open source radeon driver or do I need to install fglrx driver ?
I'm running Gentoo for the past 2 1/2 years

I am running the fireglxp-8263-dd-cp-34003 from ATI. The one from Lenovo is one rev earlier and might be better. I do have an issue with dual displays, it puts the external one on the right and won't remember my settings.
That is on T60P (2623DDU) with Core 2 Duo and Vista 64.

So, do you use the ATI proprio driver or the Open source ?

That must be the proprietary driver from ATi. I have the V5200, but i'm also using ATis latest driver with opensuse 10.2. I do have some issues still, when running Beryl.
Hmm, although i can't find it on ATis site.
For some reason I can't enable 3D acceleration, yet Xgl is running.
WHY in the world are ATi GPUs so [censored] hard to get working with linux, in comparison to nVidia?
Why are there so many problems og bugs in comparison?
I had terrible experience setting up Mandriva on the T42. The X-server never started any graphical interface because MR9600 was not properly configured.
The open source driver you mentioned, what is it called?
Jgrobertson, if you get the time - running 'fglrxinfo' from a console, what does it say on you T60p?

The module is radeon and you can find it in the kernel...
It's inside Graphical support or characters device in the device section.
