I purchased a T61 with 1gb turbo memory but it only shows up as 512mb. Does anyone know why? Or did they put the wrong memory chip in? Has anyone else found this to be a problem?

how much "normal" RAM do you have?

3gb of "normal" ram. Even if I had only 1gb it's totally separate from the turbo memory. I don't know why it's showing 512mb when it's advertised to be 1gb

Where are you looking? IIRC it's used as 512 MB for ReadyBoost and 512 MB for ReadyDrive, so maybe that's what you are seeing?

That is exactly it. The ReadyDrive feature allows you to boot up, resume from Hibernation, etc., faster, while ReadyBoost stores part of your page file in the built-in memory to speed up Windows (allegedly).
I remember reading that it was a 50/50 split, but I'm not sure if this can be tweaked or what.

512mb for readyboost 512mb for readydrive
you could only see 512mb in MS Disk Management
but check out Intel Turbo Memory Console you should see the full size 1gb
