for no apparent reason, my webcam disappears and other times the sound driver disappears. Upon reboot, they are back and working like normal. Any chance this is a conflict between Skype and Messenger that want to both use the webcam and sound drivers?

Got some other wacky things happening out of Sleep now, the resolution changed to something under 1000 from the normal 1440

My usb storage drivers disappeared (Vista 32) from one moment to the other. I had to copy them back into the driver folder. You are not alone with those weird driver issues.

I don't know if these hotfixes would apply to any of your problems or not, but I thought I would throw them out there.

that first one sounds like it fits me, thanks! Are integrated webcams considered "USB devices" ? Also, does this apply to our comps (vista ultimate) "This problem occurs on a computer that uses Open Host Controller Interface (OHCI) host controllers"

it looks like we need a new bios update. right now the latest is 1.09 and in the past, lenovo has addressed simiar resultion changing problems with the bios fix. i cant seem to find a good matching hotfix
