I am still having issues with my T61 connecting to the WPA2 network here at school. I can connect but can only access a few sites. However when I'm at home (on my WRT54G) I have no problems at all (using WPA).

I am thinking about uninstalling Thinkvantage Access Connections (from the add/remove programs) and letting Vista manage my connections instead. However if that doesn't work I want to reinstall Access Connections because I do like the interface and the options. So how would I get it back if I wanted it? I do have the complete reinstall disks from Lenovo since I had to reformat and reinstall a few weeks ago.

Just go to the Lenovo support site, put it your Model number, go to the download site and download the latest version.

The original Access Connections application might be in your IBM folder of original apps, but I don't see it on my machine.

Oh well, that didn't work. I'm now letting Vista manage my connection but I still can't connect to certain sites so it's exactly the same. But if nothing else I have at least ruled out Access Connections as the problem.

What about a driver? I have the 11 a/b/g/n (I think that is the Intel one) with Atheros driver version 7.2.0.164 dated 2/28/2007. Is there a newer one?

I recommend that you let Lenovo help you out with maintaining the latest and greatest drivers on your machine.

Well, there's a program in your ThinkVantage folder called "System Update" that takes care of these things for you rather neatly. It is also the "answer" to your original question (how to I get Access Connections back if I delete it?).

System Update works both under XP and Vista. It's an indespensible bit of software for the ThinkPad but I've noticed that not everyone knows about it. Hence, my writing this reply to your post.

So....in a nutshell, if you're wondering if you have the latest driver for your wireless card (and there have been several), run System Update and let it find out what you need. You'll see that there are categories of updates (Critical, Recommended, Optional). You can also download updates for installation later.

Intel and Atheros drivers are for completely different hardware. The Intel driver will not work with an Atheros card, and the Atheros driver will not work with an Intel card.

Yeah, I figured out that I have the Thinkpad Atheros 11 a/b/g/n card, not the intel one. I did find a newer driver by version number, but the date was actually older. So I'll just hold out a little longer and hope someone fixes Vista and makes it work with everything.

As for the system update, I do use that. But it didn't catch Access Connections as an update so I had to update that manually. And I'm using version 4.31b even though there is a version 4.4 out, I don't think it is for Vista

Is it possible the sites you are trying to reach are blocked by the school?
This sounds more like an admin issue on their network,rather than a connection issue.

To the OP, perhaps your problem is the result of the following.

Some firewalls may reject network traffic that originates from Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1-based or Windows Vista-based computers

Error message when a user tries to access a Web page by using SSL from a Windows Vista-based computer on a network that uses a Cisco PIX 515E firewall: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

Well I fixed it today but not like I expected. After updating all my drivers and AC it still didn't work. Then someone suggested changing it from WPA2/AES to WPA2/TKIP and it popped right in. We were initially told to use AES but it works great now that I'm using TKIP instead. Go figure.
