i posted a reply in a previous thread i found through search but it did not have a meaningful title and i fear it was probably lost in the shuffle.

my housing is loose, especially on the left side of the keyboard (the thin strip of plastic directly next to Tab/CapsLk/Shift/etc). i can move it around easily and tap it to make a 'click' sound.

i have on-site warranty, is it worth it to make them fix it or is this normal? thanks!

Loose, moving it easily, literally? Is it something that has recently happened or you have noticed it just now?

Is it the flex that you want to say? If so then it's very common issue with T60. You can try unscrewing (reassemble) the screws and putting them back all again, sometimes it helps.

Also, all plastic have a basic property of flexibility and elasticity to a certain extent. Impurity in the material and usuage of some below par material are to blame for the ones that do it more easily, a sign of little cheapness in other terms on part of the company using such quality.

As to why? Lenovo has 6 different manufacturing centers in Asia, some do a good job, at times others don't.

well i've only had my T60 for about 2 weeks, and i noticed it on the weekend, so i can't be 100% sure if it wasn't like this out of the box.

it moves barely 1 mm vertically (and horizontally) but it is loose enough to make a loud "clack" noise should anyone touch it.

I also notice that the bezel on the left side of the keyboard is not exactly firmly in place. If I push on it, I can feel some small movements and hear a not very loud creak.

The left side bezel is just not as firmly set as the right side bezel.

Is this normal? Is it fixable? I don't see any screws around this bezel piece anywhere.

I also notice that the piece of plastic housing the power button, the Thinkvantage button is slightly domed up in the middle. If I press on it, this plastic piece will flatten out. Anyway to fix this?

Now I see it on my T61 and I'm totally focused on it...

I think we'll just have to learn to live with it, or just ignore it...

Super glue anyone?

luckily, i don't seem to have that

I've got a similar problem on my 15" 4:3 T60p, but on the right side of the keyboard (near "enter"). I've lived with it for a year, but if this machine ever goes in for repair, I'm going to mention it.

No such issues with my T60p (2623-DDU), you can still move the left side of the keyboard a little bit downward, but no loud clacks or anything. With a finger nail i can lift it up, but it's hard - and in certain positions i can make it click afterwards, but only one click.

Thinkvantage button looks pretty good here, but i have reseated the keyboard a couple of times, so maybe people should try that - it's worth it judging from the descriptions here

I had the same issue with my T60p 2613CTO and thought nothing of it. I have my own reasons to be a bit unconcerned. For one I so much wanted to own it. I am a bit helpless as it was bought in the US by a friend (making it impossible for me to avail of any service).
I am a bit concerned about the fan noise these days though. Maybe I need to clean it up a bit as the conditions here are not so dust-free
