I'd like to get some insight into how common this issue is. Are 90% of us hearing / experiencing this hissing noise? or is it more like 5%?

If you're not familiar with this issue, it is a high pitched noise that your machine may emit when running off the battery. Some describe it as a high pitched hissing noise, a squeal, rapid beeping etc. If you think your machine is making strange electronic noises only when on battery, please vote yes.

I am not voting on this, bu I'll tell you thi: my T60 does not "hiss" on battery, but my friends' does. AFAIK, this issue is not common to the T60 alone, almost all laptops have it ... something to do with centrino chipset I beleive. Also AFAIK, the reason seems to be unknown ... someone correct me of I am wrong.

Especially if you *don't* experience the noise, please vote!

I'm not trying to make an issue out of nothing, I'm trying to find out if there is an issue.

Personally, I experience the noise. I sent it in for repair, and got back a machine that still has the noise. I'd like to know if nearly all machines have it, so I should learn to live with it or return the machine? Or should I press on for a non hissing machine?

This will be my first and last bump. Sorry, I just want to get as wide a set of results as possible.
