T60 ultrabay adapter with non-Thinkpad hard drive?

#1 Post by dtzihe » Mon Jul 16, 2007 5:38 pm

I am trying to use the ultrabay hard drive adapter with a new Seagate hard drive, but the system is not detecting the new hard drive. In the ultrabay HD adapter instruction manual, it says to use only Thinkpad hard drive, but this doesnt seem to make any sense. Anyone know anything about this?

It works fine but you need to create partition and format the drive.

I use two seagate HDDs and have no problem at all...even the active disk thing works without a hitch. As posted above, you have to format the drive first. Right click my computer, device manager, disk management, find the HDD with the volume showing "unallocated" and click format.

Hmm...I am trying to reformat, but its only showing the drive as 604mb, when really it should be 120gb.
