and why you chose the specific one

If I were to get a widescreen T61 I'd go for the 7-cell because it's barely any bigger than the 6 cell and the 4 cell is pathetic.
However, I hope to get a 4:3 T61, in which case I'd get the 6 cell over the 9 cell because it does not stick out the back of the machine at all.

14.1 WS = 4, 6 or 7
14.1 4:3 / 15.4 WS = 6 or 9

If Lenovo didn't have to compensate for the display rollcage's extra weight, the 14.1 WS would probably have 6 or 9 as options. Sigh...

I have the 6 cell
Why I choose it? Because there wasn't a model with 7 cells!
Batterytime with the Quadro is really crap, equal to every $700 Acer, HP, whatever.
And the whole thing of sticking out batteries is kind of idiot.
14" ws is as wide as 15" regular. And with the protuding battery the laptop is also as deep as a 15" regular. So why not just put in a 15" regular and a non-protuding 9 cell battery

so the 4:3 14" with 6cells wont stick out ?
maybe that's the way to go

I got the 7 cell.. and so far it's not too bad. When you first look at the batery life it'll say 4 hours runtime left. In all actuality (at least mine) I have gotten it to run so far for about 2 hours and 40 minutes. The shortest was just over 2 hours, but I was watching a DVD and working with Photoshop at the time.

Last night I took out the powersupply from my T61 with Quadro and 6 cell, and it said 4:45 left

, two minutes later it was already fallen down to 2:45
So it used one hour of battery power each minute

it's really tough to understand how much run time 6 or 7 cells gives u.
i mean , my 6 cell battery on my T43 is anything between 4 hours to 1 hour. it all depends on my settings , brightness , CPU , WiFI etc ...
but if the T61 external dimensions together with the battery that sticks are like a 15" 4:3 . that really sucks ... i'm not sure at this point anymore what to order ....
are the 14" 4:3 available ? and if yes , anyone know if the fan/cooling is as good as in the WS ?
thanks Danny

T61p 15.4" widescreen.
All three:
6 cell (with computer)
9 cell (accessory but not external charger)
Ultrabay.

Dimensions without sticking out batteries:
T60 14" normal: 12.2" x 10.0" x 1.0-1.2"
T60 15" normal: 13" x 10.6" x 1.2-1.4"
T61 14" widesc: 13.2" x 9.3" x 1.09 - 1.26"

I have the 14inch WS and have BOTH the 7 cell and the 4 cell.
I got it built with the 7 cell and then got the 4 cell later (planned all along) as that was the cheaper route when I ordered.
I like both options.
the 4 cell makes the machine much smaller (since it doesn't stick out) and MUCH lighter. But the 7 cell has amazaing run time. To be honest I dont really time it but I know the 7 cell just runs and runs and runs compared to the 4 cell and other brand laptops I've had in the past.
I'm a consultant so I work at all differnt sites but I usually have an outlet handy. So the 4 cell is great most times for work since I'm on AC the vast majority. But when I need to travel or dont feel like being tethered (sitting outside on my deck or otherwise playing at home) the 7 cell is really nice to have.
So depends on your needs. 2 very difffernt options and I like that they made it this way so you can pick.

what's the prices of batteries by them selfs ? where do you guys find all this info ?
If a 14" 4:3 is not available (when??). then i may do the same.
get a 4 cells . honestly i'm on the PSU 99% of the time. and get a 7 cells for trips. if it's not outrageous pricey.
i can buy using EPP till the end of this month and that is it. So i cannot wait for a 4:3 after that if a model like that will even show up.
thanks Danny
