System standby with timer doesn't work anymore

#1 Post by missee » Thu Jul 19, 2007 9:54 am

Hi,

I have T60 with Win XP Pro. When I close the lid, then it goes to standby. But it doesn't work with timer. I have this setting "System standby: After 1 hour". "Turn off display" still works normally.

What's the problem ?

Are you using an external wireless mouse?

No, it's with cord. I think all settings are OK. I have tested several settings and power schemes.

Try removing the external mouse to see if that makes a difference.

Uuuhh... still problems.
It depends on time.

If I have "System standby: 15 mins", then it works, but no with for example "System standby 30 mins".

Why??

I can't think of a reason why time would have anything to do with it.

Maybe someone else has some thoughts.

I also have a T60 running XP Pro and recently it wont go into standby automatically if I set it to enter standby after 5 minutes or more (works for 3 minutes or less), its not a timer problem because if I set the monitor to shut down after 5 minutes or more it will shut off. I think it started after I updated the power manager. I tried reinstalling the power manager and the drivers, but that didnt help. I'd really appreciate any advice, maybe somebody knows how to roll back the update or get an older version of the power manager, or any other idea.

I have tested this. I'm sure it depends USB-devices. I have USB-hub and there are connected scanner, laserprinter and external DVD-drive. Mouse is connected to Thinkpad's own USB-connector.

If you disconnect the USB devices does system standby work properly?

This has never worked on any of my computers with WinXP. However, timer from standby to hibernate worked on some of them...
