Ultrabay Battery Question

#1 Post by tebore » Thu Jul 19, 2007 2:56 pm

Will an Ultrabay Battery from a T43 work in a T60p?

No, it won't.

What stops it from fitting properly? Physical dimensions, location of plug?

The Travel draw works, the DVD drives work why.

as far as i know it should fit but maybe the power connectors are in another location compared to the T4x series. The DATA connection area is usually different from the power one or maybe not, i'm just talking from my Dell Latitude C610 days... the battery was shorter but it could fit into the slot but connected differently.

ok well yeah i'm right, i just pulled mine out to look. The power connector is on the right while the optical drives and HD cages connect on the left. If the T60 has it somewhere else in that bay then it wont fit.

(side note - i am looking for a ultrabay battery - well maybe. I am hoping to find a nice one with good charge left on it for my T42 so that would work great if it fits the requirements above :) )
Current - Thinkpad T410si - Core i3 330m, 4GB, 250GB 5400RPM, WXGA+, FPR, BT, Camera, DVDRW, Gobi2000, Win7 Pro x32
Past - Thinkpad T410 - T400 - T61 - T60 - T43 - T42 - T41 - T40 - T23 - 600X

When looking directly in to the Ultrabay Slim on my T60p the power connector is the far right (towards the rear of the machine). A SATA connector is in the middle and the IDE connector is on the left towards the front.

When I popped in my DVD-RW in a T43 it worked and vice versa so the IDE port is in the same place.

doesnt fit. I think there is something to do with the way the front of the ultrabay battery touches the interface in the T60, as I bought a couple of used T43 batteries and none fit. I even broke off a little bit on the plastic tab in the front of the battery, but still did not work.

Both the Ultrabay SATA and IDE adapter have the same connector to the left. The middle connector you see is for direct connect devices like the serial/parallel adapter. (The middle connector doesn't exist on the Z series.)
