I am trying to get an idea if anyone is able to get Vista 64 to be stable on a T60 with Core 2 Duo with Lenovo drivers installed.
I am have a terrible time with this. MS tells me that there are driver and application conflicts that are causing crashes, auto repairs etc.
The key problems I have been able to identify are:
HP Officejet on Ethernet. I have the HP 64 driver there but when I have the T60 running on Verizon WAN and not on my home network, the driver brings the system down. Sometimes I have to replace the Access Connections, drivers for the Verizon and Intel 3945 ABG.
The Expresscard memory (Lexar) also gets clobbered and requires reformat.
I don't use Presentation Manager as that does not get along with the ATI CCC for the FireGL 5200 or Windows Mobility.
I can't use the ATI CCC at all as it crashes out even when not using the presentation manager.
I don't use easy eject as that seams to add to the problems.
What are you finding?
Please reply if you are using Vista 64 on a T6X with C2D

I have no problem with Vista 64-bit on my T60 with C2D.
First, my vista x64 installed from scratch seems to be very stable. I haven't met any problem with the new OS. It runs smoothly and it is faster than previous XP Pro.
Initially I planned to use ThinkVatnage/System update to retrieve all drivers/utilities from Lenovo's website. However, System update is not very useful as it was on my T43. It only picked up a few drivers/updates, not even including driver for my ABGN wireless card!
So I had to go to Lenovo's website again and manually downloaded and installed all of the rest drivers/utilities for vista x64 that I can think of. Everything still works fine.
Then I started to install all my previous softwares/applications for work and entertainment. My principle is: find and install new versions for vista x64, or at least for vista x32; if new version is not available, I will try to install old 32 bit applications for xp.
I did get some warning message during the installation of some softwares, e.g. DivX, realplayer, but all softwares, 32bit and 64bit, for vista and simply for xp, work just fine without even a fatal error/crash.
