Fingerprint reader for web sites?

Is it possible to use the fingerprint reader on the T60 to enter your passwords to web pages?

I use Firefox and was wondering if there was an addon or fix to enable you to swipe your finger which will then pass your password to the web site. I found one for an external fingerprint reader but not the built in unit.

Indeed is there any way finger swiping can be used instead of typing in other apps such as Truecrypt?

In a word yes.

Browser support: The Password Manager supports Microsoft(R) Internet Explorer 6.0 or later, Firefox, and Mozilla browsers. The Netscape Navigator browser is not supported.

I use it with Internet Explorer 7 and it works here. Note that you must have CSS installed and you must be enrolled. Hope that helps.

Okay I'll try. First I need to know is the Password Manager working on your system now? In that if you go to | Start (menu) | All Programs | ThinkVantage | Client Security Solution (red circle with padlock icon) | On the Client Security Solution window that opens is Password Manager red (and active) or is it grayed out?

Next tell me a little about your Firefox installation, have you installed it to the default location? Or do you have it installed to a pen drive? For the default location my experience is that it simply works. In Firefox if you go, | Tools | Add-ons | Extensions (at the top) | Do you have a ThinkVantage Password Manager 2.0 listed?

I am sorry I'm not much of a Firefox user, however I did go ahead today and have just installed Firefox on a U3 drive as well as in Portable Apps on a network drive, and within my Windows XP. At all three locations I am now getting prompted for or am being supplied with a password.

Having "ThinkVantage Password Manager 2.0" listed in Firefox's | Tools | Ad-ons | is key to this I believe.

I think I must have a slightly different software to you. When I go to the 'Client Security Solution' window it has four sections

Client Security Settings (Change passphrase & Config Password recovery)
Passwords (Manage Logon Passwords)
Fingerprint Software (Use Fingerprint Software)
Data Protection (Protect Data)

The Manage logon passwords icon is a green globe with a speech bubble with xxxx in it. It is not grayed out and if I click on it it takes me to a 'Saved Entries' list which is blank. Is this what you are talking about?

Firefox is stored at c:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox which I believe is the default dir. I do not have a 'ThinkVantage Password Manager 2.0' listed in the extensions and I can't find one listed online.

Where did you find this firefox extension? Do you have a URL for it?

Well I am using CSS 8.00.0114.0, and it looks like this, Click here for image 'ThinkVantage Password Manager 2.0' is from CSS and is not available on line, as far as I know.

What you might try is going to control panel | Add remove programs | Find your ThinkVantage CSS and click on the repair / modify button. If it is indeed working this may allow it to find and install the plug-in.

I did manage to get it working WITHOUT the Firefox extension.

I created a new entry in the password manager list and then dragged the target icon down to the password field. Next time I went to that same site I pressed CTRL + F2 and swiped my finger and it enetered the password for me.

I will have a look for the FIrefox extension on the laptop when I get home tonight. Perhaps this will make it even easier.
