Can't find the T61p model I want in the tabook !! Anyone?

#1 Post by ComputerMinder » Mon Jul 23, 2007 10:04 pm

This is the model I am interested in:

http://www5.pc.ibm.com/europe/products. ... enDocument

Thing is Lenovo's site specs are lame. They don't list there many important paramters. I downloaded the tabook.pdf hoping to find there that model 64606XG but all I found there were "almost" the same models but I could not find that exact modem (with G) at the end.

The retailer didn't even know to answer me if this model comes with Intel Turbo Memory or not, but he assumed not ?!?!?

Where can I get the tabook for European models? Lenovo is very strong in some European countries, I can't beleive there is no such book listing all European models as well.

I also tried to search for a specific X61s I am intersted in and that model wasn'r there either.

:(

Also I found a model almost the same as the one I want in the tabook (6469-67U) Now listen to this joke.

They call it T61p which should mean performance, yet the machine comes without Turbo Memory (It reads Turbo Memory : None). Beats me You spend a ton of money and want the absolut beast. You get all sorts of great stuff with the T61p but they left the Intel Turbo Memory out? I don't get it! I've read many places it can give some boost because of the extra cashing to the HD which is good particularely with Vista. So how come this [censored] expensive machine comes without that option? :x I really had it. Anyway you look at it with their models, if you get some advanrage here you get screwed there. They don't just have a money is no object killer machine. I though the the T61p would be the ultimate performing machine.

I hope the Euroean model that I am after (64606XG) does have Intel Turbo Memory but truth is, I don't think so.

you can pick up a 1gb intel turbo memory card for about $30 USD online and install it in a few minutes.

Basically, it doesn't really do anything much in practice, so there's no real point in having it.

There is no single T61p "model" per se. There are a bunch of model configurations in the T61p "range", even in Europe. Some of them you will never see in a store as there are volume builds for large customers who have particular needs.

That's life!

Cheers,

No it won't. Just make sure you uninstall it before sending to repair services, if that situation ever occurs.

However, it has been reported that some X61 models that had neither turbo memory nor a WWAN card did not have the second PCI-e socket on the motherboard. Don't know what the case would be for a T61.

I have actually ordered the model you're interested in and expect to receive it around 8/9 August. This model does not have Turbo Memory.

Re. European tabook, there is a sort of tabook, (the ppg "partner product guide"), which is available only to Lenovo retailers. However it is no way as accurate as the tabook and has a lot of missing / inacurate information. It's updated at the start of each month.

If you are looking for a particular product I may be able to help you, if you like.
