OK, so I was removing some programs and saw this little gem (High Definition Audio Driver Package - KB888111) in my add/remove programs menu...it's about 850MB...what is it, and can I delete it? I don't watch any HD movies on this or anything like that...where did it come from?

850MB is incorrect. But you do need it for your built-in sound card to work.

Size is about 0,85 MB or 850 KB. It's a small software/driver to enable High Definition Audio for Windows XP.

Thinkvantage System Update reported today an update, which I've not seen before: MS Windows XP SP2 High Definition Audio Driver kb888111NL
However, it's been greyed out so I'm not able to download and install it on my T60 (see signature).
Please help me out, experts!

Found the driver (provided in many different languages):

Currently downloading it. Stay tuned as I inform you if I'll succeed installing the driver.

Installed the driver successfully.
Thinkvantage Systems Update doesn't report any longer the kb888111 available update!

meditate2001, I've nothing changed and soundcard worked.
Just noticed it with Thinkvantage System Update today, and I'm sure it wasn't reported previous times I used TSU.
I've no idea if the driver is old. TSU does not offer a newer version of the driver.
Yeh, it's cold and freezing here in A'dam.
When you're living in the southern part of Germany, I'm sure you've a lot of snow.

Actually, this question belongs in the "off-topic forum" and I'm sure the answer is boring to all other visitors of this excellent forum and absolutely not exciting nor unusual!
But to answer your question:
1. Googling
2. Business usage: Word, Excel, Outlook, business travels
3. Private usage: wireless connections in hotels when on holidays; hotmail, listening (ripped) music to the connected excellent Logitech Z-10 loudspeakers, enjoying and/or editing photographs made by my husband with his EOS 30D
4. Wireless connections in the garden during summertime
As I said: nothing exciting nor unusual!

I doubt you can find a decent hotel in (downtown) A'dam in the price range you're looking for.
Sorry, can't help you further as I never frequent a hotel in my own town
I'll fully understand if the moderator of this forum, removes the latest messages in this thread. It is soooooo off-topic and I can imagine it is against the forum rules!!!
I've no intention to respond anylonger to any question in this regard anyways. Sorry mate!
