T61 Headphone Jack

I have a 14.1" T61 WXSGA+ coming to me and I had a question. Do the front headphone/microphone jacks cause any trouble? I rarely use headphones but I occasionally hook my computer up to my stereo and it seems like it would be awkward to have a cable coming straight out. Know of any good right angle extension cables I could use to make it a bit better?

Opinions? Is it like the off-center screen thing and it only bothers me until I actually use it?

Yeah, it bothered me intially, but in practice hasn't been an issue. I still feel a bit more comfortable when using my earbuds that have a right-angle jack (cheap Panasonics), than using my Shure earbuds (which have a straight jack, a-la iPod). I think my apprehension will pass completely soon.

FWIW, I don't notice the the off-center screen at all anymore....

I appreciate the chime in about the screen, but I'm really looking for peoples experiences with the headphone jack on the front.

It sucks!!! Bigtime!!

Every time I use my laptop in bed for watching movies and have it on my upperlegs whit my knees in a 90 degree angle (frontside against your body), I have the idea that I am crunching my 30-euros earphones aswell as the T61's jack. Besides that, the sound quality realy sucks, so if you plan to listen a lot of music on it: buy a PC-Card Creative Audigy 2ZS of a Express card X-Fi!

If there was a configuration option to have the jack output on one of the sides I would do it, wether it would cost 50 dollar or not.

And on the desk it's also irritating: I have my dekstop with the monitor in front of my, keyboard in front of monitor and mouse right of the keyboard. My laptop sits right from my mousepad, so if there is an audiocable plugged in, it's coming over my mousepad, [censored] it . In that case would the left side be lots better: there is already the LAN cable, and the power cable is going to that side for an outlet.

Really sucks ! t61 stands on my table and it is always connected to the amp, so it is really disturbing....[censored]....

but the t61 with the 4/3 screen they got it on the left as always..or get 15.4" which also is on the left....
or get a usb sound box....

shame on lenovo for not thinking at ALL....

Time to sell my 14" ws T61 and get a 14" 4:3 then >

9 cell battery instead of 7 cell
1400x1050 instead of lower 1440x900
audioouputs on the left vs on the crappy front
no firewire: great, I hate Apple standards!
