I'm thinking of ordering a thinkpad t61p but had a few questions first:

a.) what is a 7k200 hard drive? is that just one of those fancy new 10,000 rpm hard drive and what is the read advantage

-can you order a 7k200 from thinkpad or do you have to order seperate and install yourself/is this hard/ how much does it cost?

b.) I called thinkpad EPP twice in the last few weeks and got contradicting answers to this question will/when will the T61p come out in a standard 4:3 aspect ratio

Thanks in advance for all your comments

I'm not aware of a 10k rpm 2.5" HDD. Removing the HDD takes a few seconds longer than removing a USB device. The installation of the OS and drivers will take considerably longer. If you want speed, longer battery life, silence (no noise), superior data integrety, and less heat, then go with a SSD.

Don't take anything seriously that you hear from a Lenovo sales rep, especially concerning unavailable/unreleased products. 99% of the time they will provide you with misinformation.

Perform a search on this forum for 7k200 and you will most likely find the answers to all your questions. It is a new 200GB 7200 RPM Drive by Hitachi.

Hitachi GST 7k200 is a hard drive made by Hitachi. Google is your friend.

Incidentally, there are 10k rpm 2.5" hard disks. But for server use only, which is why they come with SAS instead of SATA connectors.
