Screen brightness in T61p vs. T43p

I think I'm about to order a T61p, but I'm concerned about screen brightness. My T43p is adequate. It's not really readable if in a conveyance open to the outside, even if not in the sun, but 99% of the time I'm in the office anyway. But I wouldn't want the screen any darker.

I noticed in the tabook that my screen (1200 x 1600) should have 200 nits, but the tabook lists the T61p's 1920 x 1200 screen as 175 nits. Is it darker? But GarryF posted pictures of his new T61p adjacent to a T43p, seeming to show that the T61p was brighter.

Then, there was a posting from someone with a 14.1" widescreen T61 where he said the screen was way too bright, and the tabook listed his screen as 185 nits.

Does anyone know how to sort this out?

Your T43 is probably not 200nits anymore. The light output degrades over the years so it's probably about the same. As for the T61p i thought it was a 200nit screen?

Brightness can be adjusted but you're probably used to an IPS screen also so you will notice a difference, maybe since you use it inside most of the time the difference wont be so bad.

Thanks for the info. I went here:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pcinstitu ... tabook.pdf
and looked up T61p, and I think it said 175 nits.

Steven, I used the T43P alongside the Dell 2405 for over a year and always considered the T43P quite dull and lifeless , personally I'm finding the T61P more pleasing after using a week, viewing angle isn't so good but everything else for me is better.
