any ETA on T61p w/ WSXGA+ screen?
any ETA on T61p w/ WSXGA+ screen?
this article mentions "late availability" but I haven't been able to find anything out from Lenovo reps at the 800 number besides the typical response of "we only know about the WUGA one and that's it"

Just for yucks, I called their 877 number again and asked a "rep" and he said if anything late september (aka, "let me pull a date out of my ... so it seems like I know something"
Emailed their web site contact address so they'd have time to research this and the only thing I got back was a msg that it's only for problems w/ the web site and I should call the 877 number and ask.
So the answer is "no clue". Hopefully, it'll be soon since the SXGA+ displays have finally been released for the regular T61. I don't see what's so hard about slapping a WSXGA+ display on a T61P where there are currently supply issues w/ the WUXGA display

Yes, WSXGA+ is lower resolution than WUXGA. But for many people, myself included, higher resolution, after a point, is undesirable, as text will be too small unless Windows' DPI scaling feature is used, which isn't so great. There is much discussion about this issue.Liamo0o wrote:eh d oyou think they will ever have a SXGA+ for T61p? WUXGA on a 15.4" display is 147ppi, which for many of us will result in an unpleasant viewing experience, again unless DPI scaling is used.
Please note that when I say that text will be too small unless DPI scaling is used, I do not mean to suggest that it is a necessary consequence of higher resolution that text gets smaller -- that it is intrinsic to the notion of higher resolution that text gets smaller -- but rather that, as a matter of contingent fact (due to the Windows operating system's assumption of 96ppi) this is so.

If the resolution is too high, cant you just go to video properties and lower them? that way you wouldn't have to deal with windows DPI and you can switch back to higher resolution anytime you want.
ordered (8/12), estimated ship date (8/30). cant wait!!!
T61 14.1''(4:3) SXGA+, 2.0 ghz, 2 gig,100gig 7200rpm, Quadro 140M,

Running an LCD display at a non-native resolution results in things looking crappy.paOol wrote:dagordon wrote: Yes, WSXGA+ is lower resolution than WUXGA.
