Wireless card wont see any networks after repaing it. (XP)

#1 Post by Stingray » Sat Jul 28, 2007 11:25 pm

Hey guys..
As usual im back with a problem...hehe
Okay, I bought a T61 with factory installed vista. I took it off, installed XP and everything was running just fine until this morning. I disabled my wireless card for 2 minutes and then re-enabled it, but this time around I couldn’t see any wireless networks that I was able to see and connect to just two minutes before. Not even a single one! The wireless card is 3495ABG and I already undated the driver from IBMs website thinking that I might have corrupted it. That didn’t help. I can see the card just fine in the device manager, it tells me that I have a 3495ABG but it doesn’t even see any wireless networks. All networks are not secured and their SSIDs are being broadcasted. My other T43 (Sitting right next to the T61) picks up everything.
Any ideas?

Check to make sure the card is powered on. Sometimes at odd times the radio powers itself off. I feel your frustration because this has happened to me before.

Press Fn then F5. When the dialog box opens just make sure that the wireless card is powered on.

Seems a simple fix and I hope that it is indeed simple.

Glad this solved your problem.

Just sharing what has happened to me.

I am wondering if the wireless card gets powered down to save power because this seems to happen at very odd times.
