TPM not connecting

I am running a 32 bit Vista Business OS on a T60 Lenovo laptop. At startup I
get the message as follows:

There was a problem connecting to the TPM (security device) on this
computer. It is possible that anti-virus or firewall software is blocking
the connection. A missing or disabled device driver could also cause this
problem. See the online documentation for more information.

Everything seems to be in order. The chip (Atmel TPM vesion 3.0.0.15) is
enabled and neither the firewall nor antivirus appear to be blocking.

Any help on how to handle this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Don

Thanks, but rebooting just brings back the same error message that connection to the TPM device could not be done.

Any word on this? Were you able to resolve it?

I am having the same problem on a T61p.

I did remove the built in Norton Protection and added Norton Antivirus, so I suspect it has to do with this, but cannot figure out how to resolve the error message.

Try this if all else fails. Clear the security chip and it should be fine.

To clear the chip just turn off the system, remove the battery and unplug and then hit the power button.

Reinstall the battery and power cord, turn on the system and go in to the BIOS (F2) and go to security and security chip and hit the clear password option.

DOING THIS WILL CLEAR ALL PASSWORDS IN THE PASSWORD MANAGER.

FIgured it out. The problems was Norton Antivirus 2007 blocking the program. Unistalled and reinstalled NAV - working now.

Thanks
