Best way to place T61 in carrying case

#1 Post by jonnylaw » Sat Aug 04, 2007 5:34 pm

Sorry for the noobish question, but I have a IBM attache case for my T61, and was just wondering which way is best to place the t61 in teh case for storage and travel that would be safest and least prone to damaging the laptop.

In other words, is it better to place the laptop in the bag/case w/ the back end down, or the top end down?

I have a T60p, which I can only guess is probably more vulnerable to pressure on the lid than the T61. I have the Organizer Model carrying case, and I always put mine in with the hinges sticking out so that is the area I always grab. I imagine that end is probably quite a bit sturdier than the other end. With the T61 though having the lcd rollcage, I'm sure it's fairly sturdy all over.

Same here... I always try to grab the hinges edge, which is the most solid.
570 --> T20 --> T40 --> T43 --> T61 (4:3) --> T400 -->T420 --> T440p + X240

Think about it...

If inserting into a backpack, it has to be on edge. In that case, make sure the optical drive faces up so that the weight of it doesn't put strain on the latches keeping it from sliding out.

If inserting into a shoulder/handbag, place it battery up, so the same latches keeping the battery in are not under strain.

I hope that helps. I can't think of any reason to do it any other way.
