im debating a T61 here
http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/cont ... 97923A87A9
versus a T61p... the main differance being the 4:3 SXGA (goooooood) against the WUXGA (bad). My concern is the VRAM. Will the extra 128mb i nthe T61p make a big differance - I will be using this laptop for 3d applications such as maya. Essentially I am asking what the extra 128 mb will do for me and do you think it is worth it for the 4:3 screen.
Thank you,
Liam

It should make a substantial difference, at least in games. However, the leap from 256 to 512 doesn't show as much benefit.

While that extra vram is useful and give a performance boost in many situations, the more important change is that the GPU itself is a 570m vs a 140m. This is a big difference as far as graphics processing power is concerned.
Also, note that the T61p does
NOT use a 4:3 screen.
Lastly, try to use something like tinyurl in the future if yo uare going to be posting a very long url like you did above.

256 can make a huge difference, but it depends on the size of the textures you use. Just add up all the texture you use at once and you will basicly know how much you need... But I already know you need 256 Mb, especially if you do high resolution detailed 3D modeling.
