Thinkpad Advanced Dock Woes

#1 Post by cpfuller » Sat Aug 04, 2007 9:32 pm

I have installed a PCI Express USB card (4 ports) into my Advanced Dock PCI bay. When the machine is docked and started Windows does not recognize the card. If I restart Windows the card is recognized. If I undock and start in undocked profile then shutdown and redock the card will not be recognized until I restart docked for the 2nd time. I have upgraded the BIOS and done all of the other USB fixes suggested here. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Does anybody have a PCI USB card that is working properly in the Dock if so what brand and model number?

Thanks
Charles

I'm seeing the exact same behavior with a PCIe Firewire card in the Advanced Dock's PCIe-bay.

I usually put the Notebook in the dock, turn it on, go in the grub-menu (linux-bootmanager) and do a ctrl-alt-del there.

After that it recognizes the PCIe card. It seems to be a problem on the first docked boot only.

It's quite disappointing that hotplugging doesn't work with the PCIe-bay either.
