DVD v DivX for battery performance

#1 Post by Entropy1024 » Sun Aug 05, 2007 7:06 am

I am going to use my T60 to watch some films on a flight. As I only have the one battery I want to try and get as much time out of the battery as possible.

This set me thinking; is it's better to play off a DVD or encode it to a DivX file and play it off the HD?

DivX is far better since the optical drive reading dvd consumes more power than the HDD reading the further compressed divx.

yeah, i have a bunch of TV shows on my drive that i watched last time, playing the actual DVD via the disc would have probably given me 2 episodes instead of 4.
