Can I Install a Brighter Screen?
Is there a way I can order a brighter LCD for my T60? It's a 1953-D6U and you can see the specs below. The current display I have looks old and really washed out. Would it also be possible to put a 1400x1050 one in? And what's all this FlexView talk I keep hearing about?
Model: Lenovo ThinkPad T400
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 (2.26 GHz, 1067 MHz FSB, 3 MB L2 Cache)
RAM: 4 GB PC-8500 (1067 MHz, Dual-channel)
HDD: 500 GB, 54000 RPM
Audio: Conexant CX20561 (192 kHz, 24-bit)
Video: Intel GMA 4500MHD
Wireless: Intel 5300

Hi,
Yes, you can replace the LCD. 1400x1050 is also possible, but you would need to replace some other parts too, and the performance in higher resolutions may be bad with integrated graphics. For details see here:

Huh, was? the Intel GMA950 can handle resolutions up to 2053 x xxxx (whatever QXGA is - i forget.) Even the old Radeon 7500 32MB can handle SXGA+ resolutions no problem. There's no performance issues with it other than if you were going to try and play games but it's more than adequate for 2D stuff.31336 wrote:Hi,

I'm running Aero under Windows Vista. Something else is, how much is this expected to cost? What other parts besides the LCD need to be replaced? The inverter card?SHoTTa35 wrote:Huh, was? the Intel GMA950 can handle resolutions up to 2053 x xxxx (whatever QXGA is - i forget.) EDIT: I see three manufacturers: Samsung, BOE-Hydis and TMD. Which one?

QXGA = four XGA's, i.e. 1024 times two x 768 times two, or 2048x1536.SHoTTa35 wrote:2053 x xxxx (whatever QXGA is - i forget.)
Looks like you are in luck. According to this page, the XGA and SXGA+ screens use the same cable and inverter. So, all you need is an SXGA+ LCD.wswartzendruber wrote:What other parts besides the LCD need to be replaced? The inverter card?

Indeed. See Wikipedia. Sometimes it's also called Quantum XGA.Harryc wrote:So one could assume that the 'Q' in QXGA means 'Quad' or 4 times XGA.

Cool! Thank you. But which manufacturer? Sorry I got to that question a bit late.pianowizard wrote:QXGA = four XGA's, i.e. 1024 times two x 768 times two, or 2048x1536.SHoTTa35 wrote:2053 x xxxx (whatever QXGA is - i forget.)
