I have a Linksys Wireless router WRT350N and my T61p has the Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN . How do I set it up to use the N band? No matter what I try - it connects to 802.11g and not "N". The router is set to Mixed to include both N and G.

Regarding the Intel Turbo Memory settings, after enabling the two option I do not notice any faster boot. The T61p boot is not that much faster than my T42. Any tweaking needed with this?

I did search for the 802.11n issue and read that the speed display may still show at 54 rather than 300 - but I do not beleive I am connecting to the N frequency

Wouldn't this defeat the purpose of a mixed network. What about the other g devices - they would loose access.

You might want to look at Firmware Version: v1.05.8beta for the linksys. It creates other problems, and linksys does not appear to desire to support the wrt350n.

The entire WLAN always run at the lowest speed of any of the connected adapters, which mean that as long as you have a G-devide on the network you cant use the advantage of the N-adapters speed. I guess you in theory could use two separate recievers for G and N networks but, as far as I know, there are no accesspoints/routers that work that way.

I have a similar problem getting 802.11n to work on an Intel 4965AGN card in a T61p. I don't believe "n" is disabled because it is not mentioned in the product description.

I am using a D-Link DIR655 (draft n) router. Both the notebook and the router have the latest device driver and firmware.

In addition, there is no "g" client to the router and it is configured to operate in "n" mode.

When I looked into the (4965AGN) properties, I found that there were only 6 Wireless Modes listed and none of those indicated "n".

BTW, the two separate device settings "802.11n Channel Width" and "802.11n Mode" are set to "Auto" and "Enabled".

I am going to open a case with Tech Support and see what they have to say about this.

A case is opened with Lenovo. Was told by the CSR that the card should do "n" fine. I'll have to take the unit to a service depot for repair.

I do not think Lenovo knows what is going on with the 4965AGN cards they are selling.

I have set my router to N only. I have deleted any security on the router, and the TP61p will not connect. It sees the N network - but will not connect. The router is fine - a friend with a N PC card connected fine.

I called IBM support in Atlanta - I was transferred to the wireless group. They said they know Lenovo has issues with the card. They told me to call Lenovo Expert partners (LEP). LEP said they charge for help on non warranty machines - (mine is 2 days old). They would not help. Called the IBM provided support back. They said they don't deal with networking. Called again, they transferred me back to their wireless group -(TVT) - they never answered. Will try again tomorrow - maybe I should return the system

Here is th latest. Spoke with an IBM LTA (Lead technical advisor) in their wireless group. The WRT350N is currently not compatible with the 4965AGN card. While there is a beta firmware for the Linksys router that may work (but nowhere near the 300 speed) it is unstable.

The tech explained that because N standars are not yet finished or set, Intel made its own implementation and Linksys theirs. The 4965AGN card will work with Intel certified routers (such as Buffalo).

They may have new drivers in the future to address this. No on in Lenovo that I spoke with has a clue.

N speed is only available when you choose AES encryption rather than TKIP (WPA or WPA2 will do).

The problems appears to generally be between Intel pre-N implementations and Broadcom pre-N implementations.

The US Linksys WRT350N routers are based on the Broadcom chip set, while the "European" WRT350N routers ones are based on a different chip set and have a different firmware base, so they may work OK with the 4965AGN card.
