Fixing the blue ThinkVantage button.

#1 Post by rarirurero » Thu Aug 09, 2007 12:33 am

I overwrote the MBR, bootsector, and BCD because Solaris completely screwed up my Vista installation (took me a day to fix it) and so the blue ThinkVantage button no longer boots into the Recovery center.

Is there a way to fix this?
(BTW, the 6GB recovery partition and the SWTOOLS and SWSHARE folder are still present)

Thanks

Thanks for the links and advice.
But before I resort to that, I discovered that C:\Program Files\Common Files\Lenovo\BMGR contains an application called BMGR32.

Executing

Code: Select all

"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Lenovo\BMGR\bmgr32" /info
from the command line prints out:

Code: Select all

 # active type start CHS end CHS startLBA size
 0 0x00 0x27 32 33 0 224 222 66 2048 13410304

 2 0x00 0x00 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0

Can bgmr32.exe fix my problem?

I had the same problem and I was a bit scared that I'd somehow ruined the hidden partition. Before this I uninstalled Rescue & Recovery so I thought it could be the cause and re-installed it. It did help. So I think you can give it a try.
