I'm sure many here can relate with me on this. Every time I work on something and take it apart, I just can't help but to try and add/change/improve things so that it ends up just a little bit better than before. I'm trying not to mess with my T60p too much since it still has 2 1/2 years under warranty with the protection plan, but couldn't help but to brainstorm a bit.

I've noticed that the in the only parts of the T60 that really show any weakness or flimsiness, such as palmrest, there really looks to be room for some minor reinforcement. Has anyone tried anything to this effect? It seems a little more difficult to do things without affecting the warranty, but if that wasn't the issue, it doesn't look like it would be that difficult to make some improvements. I was thinking about looking for some spare parts sometime, like a plamrest, and modding that, so I'd still have the originals if I had a warranty issue. Maybe if I get some spare time here, I could take little balls of silly putty or something, and a set of calipers to get some measurements on some of the spaces that could be reinforced, like above the express card slot.

Our little obsessions aside, I am just so impressed with the engineering every time I clean my Thinkpad. It's such a natural when it comes to stripping!!!

you are making a whore out of your thinkpad!
yeah i wish i could change a couple of things with mine.
1. the thinkvantage blue button and the silver buttons just annoy the heck out of me.
2. the touchpad feels as flimsy as those found in the dell machines i saw at the UCI bookstore.
this is jus a purely cosmetic issue. overall my machine feels very sturdy and it survived a lot of abuse from me.
