Reseting TPM chip

#1 Post by phil81uk » Sun Aug 12, 2007 5:28 am

Hello,

I think that Client Security Solution needs to reset the TPM chip. When I did a factory reset from CD, all worked well. Then the CSS wizard started to enrol and secure the computer. But it could not create the codes (or something like that - cant remember the exact error message).

I suspect that this is becuase the chip needs to be cleared... here's why...

The T60 came with Win XP. I then purchased Vista and did a fresh install. In Vista I enabled Bitlocker to encrypt my drive. This relies on the TPM chip, but it errored saying that "You rTrusted Platform Module (TPM) Security Hardware is not working correctly. The authorization data for the storage root key (SRK) of the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is not zero and is therefore incompatible with BitLocker. Click here to initialise the TPM". Initialising the TMP basically reset the TPM (I think). But now it seems that after Vista took ownership of the TPM then now XP and CSS needs to take it back!

Does anyone know how to do this? I looked in the BIOS panel and cannot find any options to reset it.
