flashing screen
I have a problem with my T60 screen that each time i finish charging my battery[unplug the adaptor] the screen is always flashing. I can stop it by pressing Fn+F7 going to presentation or display scheme and choose My normal display screen then it stop and normal again. Have you guys experience the same problem? Please advise
My fix, when it happens, is to plug in the AC power.
I guess this is a power management/battery problem, especially because of the reduced battery life.
I tried to remove the "Default Monitor" entries from my Device Manager, just to be sure Windows doesn't use a too high refresh rate on the ThinkPad's LCD, but they were added back.
Btw, my screen is not always flashing when unplugged, just sometimes. I haven't discovered a trigger yet. I have to check the Fn+F7 trick myself.
Have you guys ever used an external high refresh-rate CRT monitor, with the ThinkPad? Because I did, and I remember not having this problem before that.

I have the Intel graphics card. What's strange is that the LCD only rarely flickers, not always.
It definitely has something to do with the laptop-on-battery settings though. Thanks for the suggestion.
P.S. The Intel Display Refresh Rate Switching Technology is grayed out in the Intel Graphics properties window. Is that normal?

Noooo guys! There is an easy fix for this.
Microsoft has a service called Transient Multimon Manager (TMM). This (supposedly) makes it easier to run multiple displays. It also causes the annoying flash we all hate so much.
Here's how to fix it:
1. Click on the Start button
2. Type "Task Scheduler" and hit Enter.
3. On the left-hand side, click "Task Scheduler Local" (you should already be there, but just in case).
4. Expand "Task Scheduler Library," then "Microsoft," then "Windows," then click "MobilePC."
5. Up top, you'll see a task called "TMM." Click it, and on the right-hand side, click "Disable."
6. You're done.
This works!!! Try it.
It seems that this fix is great if you are not using an external monitor. If you need to use an external monitor you may need to reverse this as needed for full functionality with an external monitor.

I looked into Scheduled Tasks, even viewed Hidden Tasks, and I have no tasks enabled. I could not find anything called Task Scheduler Library (available only under Vista).
On the other hand, I tend to agree that the flickering has to do with external monitors. I had zero problems until I first hooked up my CRT.
And I still have the battery issue; it's running only 2 hours, instead of 3 hours before the problem.
P.S. It's definitely a driver issue here. My ThinkPad thinks it has two identical graphics adapters.

- The flickering still occurs, and the old trick of disabling/reenabling the external display no longer works
- I can't set the refresh rate of the external monitor higher than 60Hz without going into CCC and using the "Force" option.
