Help- Annoying ZEEECH sound when on Battery!

I'm new to the forums. Just got my T61p 14.1" and this is driving me crazy: there's this faint ZEEECH sound coming from the bottom left side of the laptop.

1. It ONLY occurs while on battery power.
2. Every time I tap the touchpad or eraser head, the sound intensifies.

Tried opening the laptop, removing the keyboard, blowing air, none of which worked. This is annoying as I spend most of my day in a quiet work area. :x

Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas how to fix this?

Try updating the drivers through Thinkvantage System update and also make sure the latest BIOS update (v1.14) dated 16 Jul 2007 has been applied. If that still doesn't help then call IBM Support Center at 1-800-426-7378 (24/7)! to send out the machine for repair OR call lenovo, get an RMA, return your machine and re-order it again.

EDIT: Chances are slim but it could be faulty battery too.

I have a T60 and the exact same problem. However, I get the 'zeech' sound regardless of whether or not I'm on battery or AC and it's very sporadic, not consistent like yours seems to be. I just wait a few minutes and it usually goes away.

Call the support number (I mentioned above) to have it fixed.

Hehe, I would except that's the least of my problems with my new T60. IBM support and I are phone buddies.
