T61p 14" 4:3 Vs T61P 15.4" WS

#1 Post by danny_isr » Tue Aug 14, 2007 3:00 am

i ordered today the 14" 4:3 T61P.

but i'm not sure that was the right thing .

1) the 15" got 256M on video Vs 128M and i dont know if that an issue for VIsta and aero yet.

2) both don't have the battery sticking out with 6 Cells.

3) maybe better cooling with the 15.4"

4) the cost is similar

5) size wise from what i understand , the difference is only on the width.

i do like a small size and light weight laptops. i was even thinking on the X61.

what do you guys think ?

I know there is a very long wait on the T61p 15.4 inch version.

I also ordered the 14.1 inch version with the 128 mb 570m card and have similar questions about gaming performance.
Cheers

1. No issue(s) under Vista or aero.
3. Cooling system is same however the more spacious area and room the fan and heatsink get the better they perform.

6. According to your needs, you made the right decision.

what about running a 20"/24" external monitor.

will there be a different in performance between 128M to 256M on the video with Vista ?

How much video memory the 1600x1050 15" model got ?

thanks Danny

128MB of VRAM is enough to drive a single WQXGA (30" 2560x1600) display.   a 20-24" would be absolutely no problem.

well i know it will drive it. the question is Aero and games for such hi res.

i'm reading mix things on the net, some say for Aero to work well you need minumum of 256M and on the other hand i saw that video on Youtube of this guy with on board card with only shared memory running aero no problem :)

i was today at OfficeMax , and saw there Acer 15.4" haha it's HUGE
i think i did the right decision ! :D

i used to have 15.4" Compaq X1000 in the past. and as long i didn't know something else i was happy with it. but now after over 2 years with my T43 14" i got used to different sizes
