MS pushed Lenovo FlexView 1600X1200 optional update?

#1 Post by jgrobertson » Wed Aug 15, 2007 7:33 am

Yesterday, Microsoft downloaded to my T60p (2623DDU with Flexview at 1600X1200) an optional update titled:

"Lenovo - Other Hardware - Wide viewing angle & High density FlexView Display 1600X1200"

I see this was released in November 2006 per MS. I am running Vista 64 installed from retail package on clean HD. I installed all the drivers that Lenovo lists for this machine but this one is not included.

I don't see this on the Lenovo site. Does anyone know what this is about?

Are you sure you installed the LCD driver ?

It doesn't usually seem to come down with System Update, if that's what you used to install your drivers.

is it really necessary to install the monitor/LCD .inf driver file for the FlexView screen? I checked my device manager in Vista, and for monitor it lists "Generic PnP Monitor"; is there really any specific reason to install the .inf file? I wouldn't think that it'd affect the display quality(?)

I also know that Lenovo offers a color profile for the FV screen, but I've read that it's best to just use the default sRGB profile; any thoughts?
